Tender description

The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust seeks a suppier of radiation protection services provided by a Radiation Protection Advisor (RPA) as mandated by the Ionising Radiations Regulations 1999[1] (IRR99). The RPA will advise on all aspects of ionising and non-ionising medical radiation safety including radio frequency, ultraviolet, magnetic resonance imagery (MRI), laser and ultrasound radiation. The RPA will carry out Performance Acceptance checks on all medical imaging equipment and periodic assessment checks, annually or biennially as necessary depending on type of equipment and whenever indicated due to unsatisfactory QA results. The RPA will provide dosimetry services for individual monitoring of Trust staff. The RPA will provide the services of a suitably qualified Medical Physics Expert or Experts for consultation regarding compliance with the Ionising Radiations (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2000 (IR(ME)R 2000). Radiation Protection Advisers and/or any Radiation Protection Advisers and Medical Physics Experts employed by an RPA body must be individually certificated and meet the criteria of core competence defined by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) and have the specific knowledge, experience and competence required for giving advice on the particular working conditions or circumstances of the Trust.
