PSNI require: 1 Public Order Overalls - A protective overall using a dual layer or single layered clothing system. The overall's woven outer layer will provide protection against burning on contact with a flame and protection against liquid penetration. The inner layer, where applicable, will provide additional protection against liquid penetration, but must be breathable thus allowing the transference of heat and sweat from the body to the outer fabric, thereby enabling Officers to work for longer periods under hazardous conditions. The protective overall shall provide short term, thermal and chemical protection against threats, principally petrol bombs that may be encountered in a riot situation. Additionally, the protective overall is used in conjunction with limb protection equipment and undergarments and will be worn by both male and female Officers. It is essential that the protective overall is CE marked. 2 Tactical Firearms Coverall - A protective coverall using a single layered clothing system. The coverall will provide protection against burning on contact with a flame and protection against liquid penetration. 3. Flame Retardant Air Support Unit Flight Suit. The flight suit will be worn by both male and female personnel within the PSNI Air Support Unit
