Provision of Tyre Mileage Contract Services

Tender description

Translink, comprising of Northern Ireland Railways, Metro, and Ulsterbus is the all-embracing title for the integrated public transport operations in Northern Ireland, otherwise known as the contracting Authority Translink, covering Ulsterbus Limited and Metro currently operates a fleet of approximately 1450 vehicles in Northern Ireland with joint services with Bus Eireann into the Republic of Ireland, long distance express services to London and touring holidays to both GB and continental Europe. The vehicles in the fleet include single and double deck stage carriage buses, single and double deck express coaches, articulated buses and coaches and midi-buses. Current tyre services are provided by contractor’s staff at approximately 21 Translink locations across Northern Ireland, with supporting supply, logistics and administrative activities also provided by the contractor. Translink requires a competent contractor(s) to provide Tyre Mileage Contract Services. These services include the following but are not to be considered exhaustive or in any order of priority: 1. Tyre inspection regime encompassing 4 weekly tread depth check, tyre condition and tyre pressure check. 2. On vehicle tyre wear management e.g. moving tyre position to prevent premature shoulder wear. 3. Tyre punctures repairs. 4. Tyre changes to ensure vehicles are fitted with tyres that comply with Road Traffic Regulations, Construction and Use Regulations and to accommodate operational/policy requirements such as preparing for the New Coaching Season 5. Tyre removal from rims returned from scrap vehicles 6. Availability of a built wheel stock maintained in local depots 7. Takeover of new vehicle tyres 8. Support services for continental Europe operations are part of the contract provision.
