Provision of FM Localisation Satellite Receivers

Tender description

BBC World Service requires a solution to enable the localisation of radio broadcasts delivered to FM transmitters by satellite. The solution will allow for the insertion of locally stored material to replace content in the live programme stream received from the satellite. It is anticipated that the solution will provide a head-end management system, DVB satellite receivers which incorporate local storage for inserted content and an appropriate maintenance and support plan. Initially, the BBC intends to award call off contract(s) to the value of approximately £200k in order to assess the viability and suitability of the solution. If the solution is found to meet the BBC’s requirements, the BBC may elect to award further call off contracts up to a maximum value of £3m during the term of the proposed framework agreement. Interested parties should, however, note that the award of a framework agreement will not guarantee any specific volume of order.
