Provision of Fixed Safety Matting (NI Rail)

Tender description

Translink is the main public transport provider in Northern Ireland and it is made up of three companies: Metro, Ulsterbus and Northern Ireland Railways (NIR). Metro operates approximately 250 buses in Belfast and Ulsterbus provide a network of services across Northern Ireland with a fleet of 1200 buses and coaches. Both companies provide public transport and also dedicated school bus services. NIR operates on approximately 200 mile of track with a fleet of 43 units made out of 3000 and 4000 CAF class diesel electric multiple units. It is essential to have in place appropriate arrangements to meet the needs of customers when arriving and departing from our platforms and stations. Failure to provide adequate care for customers exposes the company to potential litigation and attracts negative attention with the associated reputational damage. Floor matting is required to a) Remove water from customers feet thus prevent the floor from becoming wet and slippery. b) Remove dirt from customers’ feet thus helping to keep floors clean. Translink requires a competent contractor to supply and fit suitable matting such as, but not limited to, Obex Prior or Obex Forma modular styled matting. The uses of such Brand Names are not to be taken as a preference or direction towards any preferred Brand Names.
