Tender description

Ofcom is responsible for managing civil use of the UK’s radio spectrum. This includes use for programme-making and special events (PMSE), including newsgathering, outside broadcasts, studio productions and local entertainment and events. Equipment use includes audio devices such as wireless microphones, in-ear monitors and talkback systems and video equipment such as wireless cameras and point-to-point links. Ofcom currently contracts out the grant of wireless telegraphy licences for PMSE, with associated service and support functions. Ofcom specifies the spectrum that the contractor can license, the technical characteristics of the equipment that can be used and the conditions (including price) of PMSE users’ access. This contract is up for renewal therefore Ofcom are retendering for this service.
