Outreach chlamydia Service for Solent NHS Trust

Solent NHS Trust was created on April 1st 2011 and is a community and mental health NHS provider to the populations of Southampton and Portsmouth cities and surrounding areas in Hampshire. It is one of the largest community providers in the NHS employing over 4,200 staff and delivering clinical services from over 100 different locations to a population of circa 1.5 million. Our commissioned target in 2013/14 requires us to diagnose a set number of 15 – 24 year olds who have Chlamydia. In Southampton this is a diagnostic rate of 2,100 per 100,000 15-24 year olds, in Hampshire a diagnostic rate of 2,200 per 100,000 and in Portsmouth a diagnostic rate of 2,400 per 100,000. A focus on areas where positivity has been higher than average in the past such as, outreach within pubs and clubs, will be a significant contributor to this target. The provider is expected to use established stakeholder relationships with PR/Promoters who deliver night-time economy promotions within the county, and facilitate established relationships with night-time economy venues to ensure that screening is permitted in high footfall premises and at popular events targeted at the local resident non-student population. In partnership with the Sexual Health Promotion Team, the service provider will provide an outreach Chlamydia screening service to the commercial evening establishments of Southampton, Portsmouth, SE Hampshire and North Hampshire.
