Tender description

Future Media’s Online Technology Group (OTG) is responsible for the operational management of BBC Online Services, devices and networks. The majority of those systems and devices use a Linux operating system to control and manage the applications that run upon them. OTG has standardised on a single distribution of Linux over the past five years. This licence provides for a tested and validated release that is continuously patched and updated. The cost of the licence covers not the operating system itself but the management and services around that operating system that enable the BBC to run services and applications in a well-managed operating system that is both feature and security patched.
