The proposed contract(s) will cover 2 key service areas 1) General occupational hygiene services 2) Asbestos related services The Environment Agency needs to recognise, evaluate and control the physical, chemical and biological hazards that our employees are exposed to. These hazards include noise, vibration, and hazardous substances such as bio aerosols, dusts, fibres, fumes, solvents, gases and vapours. The outputs from occupational hygiene assessment and monitoring should inform a risk-based approach to pre-employment health screening, health surveillance and biological monitoring. Assessment and monitoring will also confirm the suitability of our COSHH assessments. Our employees are required to respond to environmental emergencies. These can fall under COMAH legislation or be minor spills, fly tipping and pollution incidents. An emergency situation is one which requires immediate action. The service should include information about workplace chemicals, biological and physical hazards as well as the appropriate control measures. The service could be provided by a 24/7 telephone advice line or by means of a site visit.
