Tender description

The Visitor Information Recognition and Booking System (VIRBS) computerises all bookings for domestic and professional visits to prisoners in the 3 Prison Establishments in N Ireland. The system has been customised in its implementation in each Establishment. It allows domestic visitors to make a booking at a time that most suits their own circumstances. The recognition systems biometrically identify both prisoner and visitor when accessing the visit halls. The Information Systems Division (ISD) of the Department of Justice of the Northern Ireland Civil Service provides ‘first-line’ support to the Users of the system. This competition concerns the requirement for further areas of support required.
