NIPS Provision of Visitors Centres for (1) HMP Maghaberry and (2) HMP Magilligan

The Northern Ireland Prison Service (NIPS) is an Executive Agency of the Northern Ireland Office (NIO) and operates under the control of Secretary of State for Northern Ireland. It is governed by the Prison Act (Northern Ireland) 1953 and the Prison and Young Offenders Centre Rules (Northern Ireland) 1995. There are 3 prisons in Northern Ireland - Maghaberry, Magilligan and Hydebank Wood (Young Offenders Centre, Remand Prisoners and Female Prisoners). Within the aims and objectives of NIPS there is a commitment to maintain links between prisoners and their families to aid successful reintegration, rehabilitation and help reduce re-offending. One method of achieving these aims is through the process of financially supporting visitors' services in prisons. The purpose of the Visitors' Centre is to meet the needs of adults and children visiting relatives and friends in prison. It aims to offer a safe, pleasant environment where all visitors are met with dignity and respect, provided with the facilities they need and offered clear, relevant information, together with support and the opportunity to discuss any difficulties they may face, in confidence. This contract is for the provision of services to run the Visitors' Centres for (1) HMP Maghaberry, and (2) HMP Magilligan. Tenderers are invited to submit bids for either (1) or (2), or both (1) and (2).
