Tender description

The Northern Ireland Policing Board (NIPB) was established by the Police (Northern Ireland) Act 2000. Under this legislation, the NIPB is charged with securing the maintenance of the police in Northern Ireland. This responsibility includes the administration of police pensions as defined in the RUC Pensions Regulations 1988, the New Police Pension Scheme 2006 and the PSNI & PSNI Reserve (Injury Benefit) Regulations 2006. The regulations specifically require the NIPB to reach decisions in relation to the ability of officers to continue to perform the duties of a police officer. To assist in reaching a decision in individual cases, the NIPB is required to obtain certification from a Selected Medical Practitioner.
