NICTS Provision of Court Transcription Services

Tender description

The Northern Ireland Courts and Tribunals Service (NICTS) considers the provision of Court Transcription Services to be a mandatory service which is governed by The Criminal Appeal (Northern Ireland) Rules 1968 (Rules 24-29). In addition, the Judicature (NI) Act 1978 (S16(1) and S46(1)) specifies ‘courts of record’, which includes all of the Crown Courts, Family Care Centres and Coroner’s inquests. The purpose of this procurement competition is to procure quality court transcription services that will meet the current and anticipated future court business need. The Initial Contract Period for this tender will commence on 5th January 2013 for a period of three months (a pilot scheme). If NICTS are content with the pilot scheme, the Initial Contract Period will continue to run from 5th January 2013 to 31st December 2015. The current transcription contract will expire on 31 March 2013. It should be noted that the pilot will be run in conjunction with the existing transcriptions provision and not all locations will be covered.
