Provision of Building Surveyor Services to the Official Solicitors Office of the NICTS This project is proposed by the Official Solicitor to the Court of Judicature for Northern Ireland who, in discharging her role as Financial Controller, trustee or guardian is responsible for protecting and maintaining Patients’ and Minors’ properties both vacant and occupied. As part of this responsibility, it is incumbent on the Official Solicitor to ensure that properties of the clients and minors for whom she acts are appropriately maintained. It is in connection with this that the Official Solicitor requires building surveying services, a need which was identified following a review of the Official Solicitor’s Office. The Surveyor will be responsible for: •Carrying out an initial survey of the condition of the property and providing a written report detailing the time spent at the property, what was assessed and works recommendations categorised as essential (legislative requirements) and desirable; •Arranging and facilitating a more comprehensive structural survey if directed by the Official Solicitor; •Arranging cyclical monitoring of the properties on a fortnightly, monthly or quarterly basis at the direction of the Official Solicitor and to comply with insurance requirements; •Quality assuring all works directed by the Official Solicitor in respect of the properties; •Carrying out ad hoc surveys as requested by the Official Solicitor; •Highlighting repairs required, Health and Safety Issues, Security Issues and anything required to minimise deterioration.
