NICTS Coroners Court Removal Contract

Tender description

Under section 12(1) of the Coroners Act 1959 and rule 24 of the Coroners (Practice and Procedure) Rules (NI) 1963 the Coroner is responsible for having in place suitable arrangements for the conveying of bodies to a mortuary for the purpose of his investigation into the cause of death. The Northern Ireland Courts & Tribunals Service, on behalf of the Coroners, therefore wishes to appoint competent and professional funeral directors (Service Providers) who will arrange for the conveying of bodies on the direction of the Coroners within Northern Ireland. The service provision is divided into eight designated districts (based on the Police Service of Northern Ireland Districts Map), each district is a separate contract / lot. The attached map details the designated districts to be covered by each contract. The districts are: A – North and West Belfast B – South and East Belfast C – Northdown, Ards, Castlereagh and Down D – Antrim, Lisburn, Newtownabbey, Carrickfergus E – Newry & Mourne, Armagh, Banbridge, Craigavon F – Fermanagh, Omagh, Dungannon & South Tyrone, Cookstown G – Strabane, Foyle, Limavady, Magherfelt H –Coleraine, Ballymoney, Moyle, Ballymena, Larne Tenderers may bid for any number of Lots providing they have the capacity to deliver the service to the number of districts and they can meet the call out times required for each lot as detailed in the Specification. It is desirable that Service Providers are Members of the Association for Funeral Directors (or equivalent). Please note there are separate arrangements to deal with mass fatalities resulting from a major incident/emergency. It is not part of this contract requirement.
