NHS Wakefield Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is procuring a community dermatology service for the population of Wakefield District using the Any Qualified Provider (AQP) route. The aim is to provide a high quality service for specific dermatological conditions that would benefit from treatments and can be undertaken safely in the community setting. This will ensure patients have choice and ease of access and to meet the overall objectives of delivering care closer to home. The successful provider(s) will provide a community dermatology service located within the boundaries of Wakefield District and accessible to children and adults registered with Wakefield GPs. The overarching aims of the service are to provide: • Safe and appropriate treatment for children and adults with dermatological conditions/complaints; •A demonstrably safe, consultant delivered service for isotretinoin treatment; •Specialist advice, which may utilise technology, to 40 General Practices on the diagnosis and treatment of dermatological conditions for adults and children; •A service that works with primary and secondary care to treat dermatological conditions/complaints opportunity for health promotion; •An approach with the local acute hospital trust that provides individuals’ follow-up care in non-hospital settings; •Rapid access to light treatment and patch-testing; •Training and educational opportunities for 40 General Practices on the diagnosis and treatment of dermatological conditions/complaints.
