New Work Vessel at Carrickfergus Marina & Harbour

Carrickfergus Borough Council invites submissions from suitably qualified ship builders who must be members of the B.M.I.F ( British Marine Industries Federation ) or boat suppliers for the supply of a Commercial Boat (Standard Specification) for use at the Marina in Carrickfergus. It is essential that the boat supplied complies with the relevant Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) Codes of Practice for small commercial workboats, this code being MGN 280 or MCA Workboat Code for Category Five Water. The boat must have the following capabilities: The vessel must be maneuverable enough to operate within the tight confines of the marina. The engine horse power needs to be around 37 HP The vessel must be able to operate in ALL FAVOUREABLE WEATHER conditions in Belfast Lough. The vessel will be required to work in both daylight and night time hours The vessel will require a minimum length of Nineteen Feet. The vessel must be able to safely move from Marina to Port in any weather. The vessel may be used up to a maximum of 3 miles from safe haven. It is anticipated that 2 (two) persons would operate the vessel The vessel must have a stable platform to carry out routine maintenance and clean up duties around the Marina Breakwaters, Bridges and Pontoons. This daily maintenance entails the removal/lifting of Debris, Flotsam & Jetsam from the Marina & Harbour Basins & Breakwaters The vessel should be supplied on a trailer to facilitate initial delivery and reduce the cost of regular quarterly lift out. NO lifting devices are required It should be noted that some work can only be done from the “waterside” and this should be considered within your proposal
