Measuring Residential Fixed-Line Broadband Performance In The UK

Ofcom has published reports into UK residential fixed-line broadband performance delivered to consumers since 2009. These are available at: http://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/market-data-research/other/telecoms-research/broadband-speeds/?a=0 Ofcom wishes to continue research in relation to this topic, and intends to use the data collected to publish: • comprehensive annual reports covering November of each year of the contract containing data and analysis regarding the performance of UK residential fixed-line broadband services at a national and ISP package level; and • quarterly data updates covering the months of February, May, August and November of the contract period detailing service performance on a per-panellist basis, and a comparison of the performance a number of ISP packages. The data collection process will involve assembling panels of residential UK fixed-line broadband users on specified broadband packages (called ‘Panellists’) from which broadband performance data will be collected.
