Tender description
Interpretation Plan for Maritime Museum and Archive Centre, Ebrington, Derry~Londonderry Derry City Council, in partnership with the Heritage Lottery Fund and other funders, is creating a new Maritime Museum and Archive Centre at the former military base at Ebrington, on the banks of the River Foyle. The proposal will include galleries, archival reading rooms and educational facilities. The museum will be located in two former blocks of barrack buildings, with a new purpose built extension linking them. Derry City Council (The Client) now seeks to appoint a Heritage/Interpretation Consultant to produce a multi-layered Interpretation Plan for the Maritime Museum and Archive Centre. Working in close consultation with the client, the Heritage/Interpretation Consultant is required to outline the Interpretative Plan for the Maritime Museum and Archive Centre highlighting how the various strands of the project can be brought to life. The key aims for this interpretation plan are as follows: o Learning and Engagement – help visitors of all ages learn more about our rich heritage and engage visitors with the collections o Access – encourage a variety of users from family groups, schools, tourists, specialists and professional groups to visit the Museum and Archive o Participation – help visitors to take an active part in the Museum and Archive through creative galleries and interactive areas o Design –provide the brief and display content for the Interpretative Design Consultants. o Profile - raise awareness of the significant museum and archive collections held by Derry City Council via a multi-layered approach to Interpretation
