Marine Development works at Bunagee Pier, Co. Donegal The scheme manily involves the construction of a new rock armoured breakwater, dredging and a new pontoon facility with supporting infrastucture. In order to achieve these facilities, new infrastructure is proposed as follows: a)The construction of an approximately 35m long rubble stone breakwater extension to the main pier. Some of the breakwater structure will be constructed in the intertidal areas. The top level of the breakwater will be formed with a circa 3m wide capping 1m below the top level of the existing pier wall. b)Dredging and rock excavation of an approximate 780 sq. metres area is required immediately to the south of the smaller pier. A small amount of this rock excavation will be in the inter tidal zone. c)A pontoon facility with step ashore berthing provision in the area to the south of the smaller pier. This will include the provision of power, lighting and water with the installation of navigation aids, barriers, handrails, bollards, mooring rings, ladders and access steps. A bridge will provide the step ashore access directly onto the pontoons from the Western end of the smaller pier.
