Tender description

Translink is the brand name of the organization responsible for operating integrated public transportation services within Northern Ireland. The organization is comprised of three companies: Metro (formerly Citybus), Northern Ireland Railways and Ulsterbus. The companies are subsidiaries of NITHC (Northern Ireland Transport Holding Company Ltd.) which is the body responsible for providing bus and rail public transport in Northern Ireland. System security is essential for the Translink Network. It is necessary for Translink to ensure that appropriate barriers are in place to reduce external risks to the corporate network. Translink realise that IT Security is a growing business problem. Having personal or commercially sensitive data compromised is a serious matter for any organisation, not just in terms of the financial loss or the legal implications, but also loss/theft of intellectual property, damage to brand, business integrity, customer confidence and reputation. As part of an ongoing internal risk management assessment a number of specific risks related to network security have been identified: • Web site vulnerability; • Failure to withstand a software virus attack on the corporate network; • Breach of network security; • Unauthorised access to corporate computer systems. To provide a level of assurance that the corporate network, and the website are secure and to help to manage the identified risks, Translink wish to carry out an assessment of their network security.
