GROUND INVESTIGATION WORKS AND REPORT FOR NEW MATERNITY HOSPITAL (RVH)

Tender description

The Contract is for the provision of ground investigations and the production of a Ground Investigation Report upon the site of the new Maternity Hospital located within the site of the Royal Victoria Hospital (RVH,) Grosvenor Rd, Belfast. The purpose of the contract is to confirm the ground conditions, including soil profile, depth and condition of bedrock, beneath the areas for the proposed development so as to allow detailed design of the new hospital. The site is currently occupied by RVH facilities and buildings including the Royal Jubilee Maternity Building. There are associated access roads, car parks and landscaped areas (Millenium Gardens) within the site to be investigated in conjunction with a temporary contractor’s compound for the on-going construction of the Critical Care Unit. The Education Center building was recently demolished, however its foundation still remains insitu. Foundations associated with buildings previously present are expected beneath the majority of the site to be investigated, these include; Immunology Day Center, Mussen House and Musgrave and Clarke House. An underground tunnel has also been constructed in the proximity of the site as part of the new Critical Care Building.
