Firewall and DMZ Services

Tender description

In 2008 Translink migrated its DMZ, firewalls and internet gateway to a fully managed service located in the BT Data Centre in May Street, Belfast, to provide resilience, and to improve network availability. Servers and switches are hosted in the Data Centre as a mixture of managed and co-location services. Translink uses a shared service for external facing firewall requirements. Internal firewalls are provided by means of Cisco ASA switching devices. Bandwidth for shared internet traffic is 10Mbps, burstable to 30Mbps. This caters for HTTP, HTTPS and SMTP traffic. A minimum of 7Mbps is reserved for the Translink website in times of high demand. Network resilience is provided by the deployment of two EES services; a 100Mbps managed circuit from the Data Centre to Milewater Road and a 10Mbps unmanaged circuit from the Data Centre to Central Station. These circuits both link in to the main Translink fibre-based Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) at these locations. Unless stated otherwise in these Instructions or in writing from Translink, all communications including queries from Applicants and any PQQ amendments from Translink during the period of this procurement exercise shall be submitted through and published via the online messaging facility provided on the e-sourcing NI portal (see “Messages” section).
