This project is the second part of the Compensation Behaviours project. The first part, the Rapid Evidence Assessment, is being tendered separately, details of which can be found at the link: https://www.gov.uk/research-funding-from-defra The purpose of this tender, “Part 2”, is to conduct primary research with animal keepers and vets to provide evidence on the impact of current exotic disease compensation policy on animal keeper behaviour and the likely effectiveness of different compensation measures in terms of promoting positive disease risk management practice. This is primarily a social research project, not a veterinary one, although it will need to be informed by good knowledge of animal health issues and understanding of the farming sector and other animal keepers. Sub-contracting arrangements may be necessary to secure the range of expertise required for this project.
