Tender description

The Mortgage Debt Advice Service (MDAS) provides a dedicated advice line and drop in facility in Belfast, with the provision of advocacy and representation services advertised via a public information website. A report for the 2013/14 period shows the service has dealt with 1620 clients regarding 5253 housing issues and has directly prevented homelessness for 359 clients and provided representation at the Chancery Division of the High Court for 310 clients. These figures show the demand and benefits of MDAS. Following Departmental approval to continue this provision, the Department for Social Development now wishes to appoint a Service Provider to effectively deliver this service from 1st April 2015. The principal aim of the MDAS is to help sustain communities and prevent people in NI from becoming homeless as a consequence of housing related debt.
