DSD - Maintenance Contract for Water Features at Custom House Square (B1)

Tender description

This contract is for the maintenance of the water features at Custom House Square Belfast. It includes for the start up, shut down and cyclical maintenance routes that the fountains require in order to operate in the public domain. Custom House Square is finished in a high quality natural stone and is enhanced by attractive lighting and a state of the art water feature. The fountains operates from early April to the end of October each year and works are required to be carried out throughout the year when the fountain is operating or turned off. This is a unique feature that is highly complex and uses a series of choreographed and illuminated ground recessed jets. The water feature includes a below ground plant room, which is located at the foot of the Albert Clock and a cast in-situ below ground tank installed adjacent to the plant room to provide storage capacity for the system. Water quality is crucial for such an animated feature and the water requires constant filtering, chemical dosing and monitoring to ensure it is clean and safe. Tasks required within the contract works include: • Chlorination of water tanks to 50PPM free chlorine. • Inspection of plant both above and below ground. • Carrying out water sample testing for Legionella bacteria by UKAS accredited campany and managing test result. • Cleaning and flushing dosing pumps. • Recalibrating dosing systems and electrodes. • Operating and maintaining an HMI panel associated with the controls of the water feature. More details of the maintenance activities and regime will be issued at ITT stage. The contract is for a 12 month period with the option to extend for a further 12 months on two periods. During the term of the contract the Employer will change to Belfast City Council in line with the timescales for the implementation of the Reform of Local Government.
