DSD - Lagan Dredging Works 2010

Tender description

The Project involves the following: • The works shall involve the maintenance dredging of the impounded River Lagan to a level of -1.2m OD and the dredging and reinstatement of the 10m wide incised channel (to a depth of -2.5mOD). All dredging shall be disposed of at sea in line with the FEPA license issued by NIEA. • All works are to be undertaken directly from floating plant with all arisings decanted to suitable water based plant prior to transfer to a main sea going barge for ultimate discharge at a disposal site as designated by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency. The use of land based plant or the transfer of arisings by road to landfill sites is not permitted. • The Contract period for the dredging works is from 01 September 2010 to 31 March 2011. It is anticipated that the Contract can be completed within this period as dredging will not be allowed outside this time frame within any one year.
