DSD - CLIFTON GATEWAY PUBLIC REALM EIS (B3)

Tender description

The Contract is for the provision of works for the Public Realm Environmental Improvements to the Clifton Gateway in Belfast. The Clifton Gateway EIS extends from the junction of Donegall St and Royal Ave to the junction of the Crumlin Rd and Agnes St. The scheme may also include environmental improvements to Denmark St which extends from Carlisle Circus. Works will include re-surfacing of public road and footways with a combination of high specification natural stone materials and asphalt, provision of new street furniture, street and feature lighting, street tree planting, bespoke metalwork (including boundary treatments), drainage and associated integration with, and diversion of (as required) main utilities. Works to historic listed railings and stone walls will require the services of appropriately qualified metal fabrication and stone specialists. The Scheme includes the use of:- •Caithness natural stone paving to footpaths and granite kerbs that will complement the architecturally important listed buildings; •appropriately designed decorative street lighting along with the lighting of key buildings to promote a safe and inviting environment; •appropriately designed street furniture; •infill semi-mature tree planting to create tree lined boulevard effect; •street-scape boundary improvements eg, Mater Hospital fencing, railings of Courthouse, Frederick St park etc; The provision of a new landmark public artwork at Carlisle Circus may also be included which will emphasise the strategic importance of this gateway.
