Tender description
Transport NI is a business area within the Department for Regional Development for Northern Ireland (DRD (NI)). Transport NI is the sole road authority in Northern Ireland, responsible for just over 25,000 kilometres of public roads together with about 9,700 kilometres of footways, 5,800 bridges, 281,000 street lights and 163,000 illuminated traffic signs. The main functions of Transport NI are to ensure that the public road network is managed, maintained, developed in a safe and efficient way. Transport NI’s function includes the provision, operation and maintenance of street lighting, traffic signals, car parks and traffic signs throughout Northern Ireland. Subject to the Conditions of the Contract, the Contractor shall supply to the Client’s public lighting equipment, such electricity as the Client requires up to the capacity required during the period of the Contract.
