DRD - Supply of Unmetered Electricity for Public Lighting 2013 - 2014 Roads Service is a business unit within the Department for Regional Development for Northern Ireland [DRD (NI)]. Roads Service is the sole road authority in Northern Ireland, responsible for just over 25,000 kilometres of public roads together with about 9,500 kilometres of footways, 5,800 bridges, 270,000 street lights, 18,300 illuminated traffic signs and 370 public car parks. The main functions of Roads Service are to ensure that the public road network is managed, maintained, developed in a safe and efficient way. Roads Service’s function includes the provision, operation and maintenance of street lighting and traffic signs throughout Northern Ireland. Roads Service require the supply of unmetered electricity for public lighting.
