DRD - Provision of LGV Drivers for Winter Service Duties

The contract will replace the current call-off contract which expires on 3 August 2015. TNIO&M carry out winter service gritting operations on 113 routes covering sections of the gritted public road transport network across Northern Ireland. This service is provided using Departmental gritting vehicles operated by Industrial and Non-Industrial drivers from within TransportNI. Due to staffing constraints and to enable compliance with Driver and Working Time Regulations, the in-house resource requires to be supplemented by external drivers. This contract will procure approximately 100 to 130 external LGV drivers each winter via a recruitment agency to cover various shifts in TNIO&M depots. This contract will not be subdivided into lots. The reason for this is due to the amount of work required in pre planning the winter service and the daily management of its delivery will make it difficult to manage multiple suppliers.
