Drain blocking via installation of peat only and peat/timber dams at raised bog

Tender description

Ulster Wildlife is seeking to appoint an experienced economic operator to carry out installation of 1,793 dams on several raised bogs across Northern Ireland in 2020.The majority of dams are peat only. However, there are a number, at Garry Bog, that are on deeper drains and will need to be timber and peat. This is outlined fully in attached ITT documents. This tender is divided into four lots and operators may tender for individuals lots or all four. Contractors should note that, to comply with wildlife legislation, control works are restricted to certain months of the year (January, February - under certain circumstances, March - and Sept, October, November, December). The pricing schedule is attached in Appendix C. You are asked to fill in the price per unit of peat dams of 1x1m, peat dams of up to 2m x 2m, and the price per unit of peat/timber dams in drains of up to 2m x 2m (the latter at one bog only). You are also asked to indicate costs for scrub removal where it is required, and for travel and subsistence. Contractors must include a contingency of €5,000 (or equivalent in sterling at the rate on the day of submission) in their tender to cover the cost of maintenance/repair of access roads, the implementation of which will be the responsibility of the contractor in agreement with the client (see Appendix 4d for further detail). Tenders must be submitted via the e-sourcingni portal by noon on Friday, 20th December 2019.
