DOJ FSNI - Provision of DNA Class 2 Biological Safety cabinets, stands & laminar

Forensic Science Northern Ireland (FSNI) is an Executive Agency within the Department of Justice (DOJ) and currently employs approximately 220 staff, providing a wide range of scientific services and expertise to assist in the investigation of crime and the presentation of scientific evidence in court. FSNI is an operationally independent organisation providing service, to its main customers, the Police Service of Northern Ireland, the Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland, the NI State Pathologist as well as a number of other customers in NI and further afield. FSNI provides a full range of forensic science services through its operational casework sections, each of which consists of a number of teams which focus on a particular forensic science discipline. FSNI is currently undertaking a major investment with the construction of a New Laboratory Facility, which will place FSNI at the forefront internationally in terms of its technical accommodation. In order to accommodate advances in Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) analysis FSNI are relocating their evidence recovery and DNA analysis processes into this new high care facility. This New Laboratory Facility will provide Clean Air to DNA Laboratory areas, in operation, to ISO Clean Room Class 5 standards, (ISO 14644-1) pre-filtered. In order to support this move FSNI are seeking to establish a contract to provide the following – • The purchase and installation of new Class 2 Biological Safety Cabinets (BSC) with stands and Vertical Laminar Flow Cabinets (VLFC) and stands. • The removal and reinstallation of existing Class 2 Biological Safety Cabinets (BSC) with stands and Vertical Laminar Flow Cabinets (VLFC) and stands. • The maintenance and servicing of both new and existing Class 2 Biological Safety Cabinets (BSC) with stands and Vertical Laminar Flow Cabinets (VLFC) and stands. • The decommissioning of existing cabinets which are beyond repair
