CONTRACT FOR THE PROVISION OF COUNTRYSIDE MANAGEMENT AND MAINTENANCE SERVICES AT NIEA OWNED AND MANAGED PROPERTIES - APRIL 2012 TO MARCH 2015 Introduction Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) is an executive agency of the Department of the Environment responsible for the protection and promotion of the environment. The aim of NIEA is: “To protect, conserve and promote the natural environment and built heritage for the benefit of present and future generations” The Regional Operations (RO) and Conservation, Designation and Protection (CDP) are functional units within the Natural Heritage Directorate of the Agency. RO has responsibility for managing sites owned by the Agency including 7 Country Parks, a Countryside Centre, a Coastal Zone, over 50 Nature Reserves and 185 State Care Monuments throughout the Province. For operational purposes RO is divided into 4 Regions namely; North, West, South East and Central. NIEA also stages almost 300 public events at many of these sites and properties throughout the year. CDP has a responsibility for the management and maintenance of Designated Sites not owned by NIEA. Requirements In order to ensure that its properties are maintained effectively and to a high standard, NIEA is seeking tenders from suitably qualified contractors for the provision of services for an initial three year period commencing on award of contract. The option to extend the contract for a further two years is retained subject to agreement between the Client and the Contractor. The Countryside Management and Maintenance Contract will require the following in some or all of the properties/sites: Lots 1 to 4 - Grass Cutting, Dog foul collection, Litter collection and as appropriate the removal and disposal of clippings and waste material collected in each of the four regional areas.
