Project_5158/ ITT _8135 DOE- Review of Taxi Ranks and Introduction of Rank Exclusion Zones Central Procurement Directorate on behalf of its client the Department of the Environment (DOE) wishes to invite tenders for the provision of the above services. The objective of the proposed single tier reform of taxis is to put in place a new licensing regime that would result in: •The Department ultimately moving to a single tier of licensing and issuing all taxis with a standard taxi plate; •The Department restricting taxi rank usage across NI to wheelchair accessible vehicles only; •The Development of an exclusion zone around taxi ranks which prevented non wheelchair accessible being hailed; •The Department issuing wheelchair accessible taxi vehicles with a distinguishing marker which would allow them access to taxi ranks; •All taxis moving to a system whereby they may be hailed or pre-booked, subject to exclusion zones around accessible ranks; •A simple and transparent plating structure with, ultimately, a standard plating system which applies to all taxis in NI.
