Development of a tourism facility at the Burren, Blacklion, Co Cavan

Tender description

Coillte and Cavan County Council have formed a Partnership to jointly deliver a sustainable tourist facility at the Burren, Blacklion. The project is intended as the flagship for the Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark in West Cavan. The Border Uplands Project is a cross-border, tourism development project, between the Irish Central Border Area Network (ICBAN), Fermanagh District Council, Cavan County Council, Leitrim County Council and Sligo County Council. The Project is funded under the European Union’s INTERREG IVA Programme managed by the Special EU Programme Body (SEUPB). The primary purpose of project is to provide •Construction of an interpretive building of 160m2 • The construction of walking trails through the forest area, 4245m in length • The provision of interpretative signage • The enhancement of the existing entrance • The construction / enhancement of existing roadways along rights of way through Coilte forestry • The provision of car parking for 37 vehicles with parking for 9 mini-buses and turning area • The provision of services including water and sewerage treatment • Construction of toilet block facilities with two cubicles • All associated costs for the delivery of the project to be included in the tender price.
