DEL Evaluation of Pathways to Success

INTRODUCTION 1. The Department for Employment and Learning wishes to undertake an evaluation of the Northern Ireland Executive’s NEET strategy - Pathways to Success (PtS). 2. Pathways to Success is in effect an umbrella strategy with a range of associated structures, programmes and projects which commenced in May 2012 and where the major new funding streams are due to end in March 2015. 3. The PtS strategy commits the Department to undertaking an evaluation in 2014 to ensure that: “…the aspiration, structures and systems outlined and the specific preventative measures and interventions are effective…” 4. To support the delivery of the overall aspiration the PtS strategy introduced a number of new initiatives within the context of an existing and developing set of other programmes of interventions across the Executive. In combination the existing and new measures represent a comprehensive set of activities that ensure that young people are given the best possible opportunity to realise their full potential and it is this comprehensive set of activities that the Department now plan to evaluate both with a full interim report, concurrent updates and a final evaluation report.
