DCAL - Ulster Scots Hub Corn Exchange IST (B1)

Tender description

The Contract is for the provision of alterations and refurbishment of the Corn Exchange building, 1-9 Victoria Street Belfast BT1 2LG as an Ulster Scots Hub and visitors centre. The hub would provide office accommodation for the main Ulster-Scots public and community sector organizations (Ulster Scots Academy, Ulster-Scots Agency, Ulster-Scots Community Network, Ulster-Scots Language Society) as well as a visitor centre incorporating exhibition/presentation space, cafe and shop. There will also be the potential to develop social economy projects at the hub in the near future. The Ground Floor will be a visitor centre that would include a reception/visitor/exhibition/presentation base with cafe and shop point facilities and will provide office space for the Ulster Scots Community Network. Part of the 1st Floor will house the Ulster Scots Academy Archive/with the rest being available for cultural/social economy use, without any additional works undertaken. The Ulster Scots Agency will occupy the 2nd Floor and the (MAG) Ulster Scots Academy the 3rd Floor (top floor). Substantial works are required to fit out and renovate the Ground Floor (former banking hall) into a visitor centre and offices, whilst minor works are required to the upper floors to update the office accommodation to meet current regulations.
