TENDER OPPORTUNITY Project Ref 7479 – DCAL Ulster Scots Archaeological Services Department of Culture Arts & Leisure Northern Ireland (DCAL) wishes to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Service Provider to deliver Ulster Scots Archaeological Services. Under its History, Heritage and Culture work programme the Ministerial Advisory Group on the Ulster Scots Academy (MAGUS) has identified a need for a substantial archaeological project covering the Plantation period and the experience of the Lowland Scots who migrated to Ulster during that time. The purpose of the contract is to identify and document key sites and monuments of historical and archaeological significance from the Plantation era across Northern Ireland and, through a small number of site excavations, to provide detailed information on the daily lives/habitats/culture and traditions of the Lowland Scots in Ulster and their interaction with the native people. It is anticipated that this contract will be delivered through a team of people, with an identified team/project leader, focusing on the outcomes identified within the Specification Schedule (contained with the Conditions of Contract document).
