Tender description

The Ballygawley Water flows through Ballygawley village and adjacent to St Ciaran’s High School in County Tyrone. Historically there have been several flooding events during times of heavy rainfall which have severely affected properties adjacent to the watercourse. The most recent flood events occurred during heavy and prolonged rainfall on 16 August 2008, 17 October 2011 and 24 October 2011. This Contract is for the execution of ALL Civil Engineering works associated with the construction of flood alleviation measures along several sections of the Ballygawley Water and associated channel works. The works are to alleviate the threat of flooding at three locations which have been identified in the vicinity; - 1.Lands adjacent St Ciaran’s High School, Tullybryan, Ballygawley; 2.Lands adjacent to 28 Tullybryan Road, Tullybryan, Ballygawley; 3.Lands downstream of Ballygawley Bridge, Ballygawley. The scheme includes the construction of flood walls and flood banks to protect properties at risk as well as the replacement of a road culvert on, Richmond Lane and the upgrading of local storm sewers adjacent to and discharging to the watercourse.
