DARD-CAFRE Greenmount Horticultural Development Centre Training Building(B2)

Tender description

The Contract is for the provision of a new Training Building at the Horticultural Development Centre on the Greenmount Campus, 45 Tirgracey Road, Antrim BT41 4PS. The new building is a 500m2 single storey building of portal frame construction on spread foundations. The building is clad with rendered masonry and insulated profiled metal cladding. Approximately 60% of the building is an unheated workshop which is an open plan area for practical horticultural studies and demonstrations. The remainder consists of an entrance lobby/waiting area, classroom and ancillary accommodation such as toilets and a store. This area is fitted out to a high standard. Mechanical & Electrical Services include domestic services, lighting, power sockets, and CCTV. The lighting to the building will be programmed to minimise energy use. External lights will be activated by motion sensors. Security and fire alarm systems are also required. The classroom is fitted out with modern appropriate IT, including an interactive whiteboard and data cabling. The classroom, lobby and ancillary accommodation will be heated by a biomass boiler. The contract period is 22 weeks. Licences, Accreditations and Certifications – the Electrical and Mechanical Subcontractor must have the following (or equivalent):  Mechanical subcontractor – 1. Scottish & Northern Ireland Plumbing Employer’s Federation (SNIPEF) 2. Building and Engineering Services Association, B&ES (previously HVCA). 3. CORGI / Gas Safe Registration, 4. Safe – t – cert, 5. ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standard.  Electrical subcontractor – 1. National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC), 2. Electrical Contractor’s Association(ECA).
