Tender description

The Consumer Council wishes to appoint a company to carry out research on the knowledge, awareness and behaviours of consumers to ascertain current levels of consumer proficiency in Northern Ireland. This work will update previous research which will act as a benchmark for the new data. Consumer proficiency is a term used to describe an individual’s knowledge of their consumer rights, responsibilities and entitlements; their awareness of where to go for expert help and advice; and their ability to deal confidently with issues such as complaining about faulty goods or poor service. The Consumer Council previously conducted consumer proficiency research in 2007 and 2003. The first research of this type was commissioned by the Consumer Council in 1998 .
