Tender description

The former blood transfusion centre site is located on the stretch of Durham Street between Divis Street and Grosvenor Road, just opposite the junction with College Square North. It is a corner site at the junction of Durham Street and Albert Street at the other side of Albert Street from Citylink Business Park a modern development of office accommodation. The rest of the area is made up of low rise social housing dwellings. The former Blood Transfusion centre lies derelict and has suffered from vandalism over the years. The original building is grade B1 listed and will be retained as part of the proposals for the redevelopment of the site. Laboratories built in later years to the rear of the building are to be demolished as part of the works. The current proposal for this scheme is to convert the existing and extend the listed building to provide 4no. 2p 1b CAT1 apartments and 8no. 3p 2b CAT1 apartments. The current proposal also includes to build 5no 5p 3b houses, 5no 3p 2b houses and 1no. 5p 3b complex needs house (23 units in total). The proposal will require the demolition of the existing extensions to the listed building which contain asbestos. All the dwellings are to be constructed to Lifetime Homes, Secured by Design standards.
