Collection and recycling glass waste

The City and County of Swansea has published this Prior Information Notice (‘PIN’) to try and identify potentially interested organisations that have expertise and experience in sorting/treating and recycling mixed clear, brown and green bottle glass collected by the Authority as part of its recycling initiatives Lot 1: The City and County of Swansea has published this Prior Information Notice (‘PIN’) to try and identify potentially interested organisations that have expertise and experience in sorting/treating and recycling mixed clear, brown and green bottle glass collected by the Authority as part of its recycling initiatives. The current tonnage of mixed glass collected from the kerbside is approximately 8,000 tonnes per year. The Authority collects mixed clear, brown and green glass from the kerbside co-mingled with steel (ferrous) and aluminium (non-ferrous) cans. The collected material is currently taken to our MRF where the material is debagged and sorted to separate the glass from the cans. To comply with Welsh Government legislation the supplier will need to maximise the volume of glass recycled overall and maximise the volume of glass recycled in a closed loop. We would be interested in hearing from you if you are able to offer this service It is anticipated the contract will be initially for 6 months plus an option to extend to 24 months.
