Tender description

Belfast Transport Hub – Traffic Survey Translink are progressing the development of the Belfast Transport Hub at the location of Great Victoria Street in Belfast City Centre and wish to appoint an Economic Operator to undertake Traffic surveys to quantify peak period traffic volumes on the local highway network. This specification identifies the scope of transport survey work that is required to achieve a detailed understanding of baseline conditions within and around the Great Victoria Street/Europa Buscentre site. It builds on the historical data already available through previous studies and data gathering exercises, which has included: • pedestrian volume counts • bus rail/user counts • pedestrian origin/destination surveys • ticketing data • behavioural observations • vehicle movements • bus stand usage The new survey work is intended to update and enhance the available dataset in order to provide a robust and reliable basis for informing the design of the new Belfast Transport Hub. The survey work shall be undertaken during school term time to achieve a robust dataset. The surveys shall be completed no later than 6th March 2015.
