Automatic Urban and Rural Air Quality Monitoring Network - CMCU & QAQC

Tender description

The Automatic and Urban and Rural Network (AURN) network provides ‘live’ air quality data on Nitrogen Oxides, Ozone, Carbon Monoxide, Sulphur Dioxide and Particulate Matter (PM10 and PM2.5 size fractions) from ~170 sites across the United Kingdom in order to fulfil a number of key objectives relating to public health and legal reporting requirements. The data collected is used as the evidence base for evaluation of policy measures to reduce air pollution in the United Kingdom and contributes to the European and Worldwide evidence base regarding air quality. It is delivered by contractors who are overseen by the Environment Agency on behalf of the Department of Environment Farming and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), and the Devolved Administrations for Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Previous procurements were delivered by DEFRA centrally by their Air Quality Evidence team. In April 2016, the current contracts were novated to the Environment Agency.
