Tender description
THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ONLY Lord Asa Briggs is a respected historian who has written the definitive 5 volume account of The History of Broadcasting in the United Kingdom. Aware that Lord Briggs had already sold some of his non broadcasting archive to Boston University, BBC Archive Development acquired the part of his archive which relates to British broadcasting. The archive consists of books, notes and other materials, which Briggs used to write the official history of the BBC. This unique collection is considered the most complete resource on broadcasting in existence, from its earliest beginnings, to the present day. This is a Request for Information (RFI) ONLY to enable the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) to gather market information regarding the provision of Archival and Conservation Services for the documents acquired from Lord Asa Briggs. The information gathered from this RFI process will be used by the BBC to build an understanding of the capabilities of current commercially available solutions for archival and conservation services, against specific requirements and assist the BBC in deciding upon a suitable solution. Please note that the BBC is focusing on existing products and services for archiving and conservation. The BBC invites establishments to offer innovative solutions wherever possible, both regarding methods of achieving the core requirements and also regarding “value-add” services, which could provide benefits outside of what is detailed in this RFI document. There is a possibility that additional discussions or demonstrations will be requested following the closure of this RFI process.
