Architectural/Engineering Consultancy Service at Dowra Courthouse, Co.Cavan

Cavan County Council wishes to carry out conservation and refurbishment works to Dowra Courthouse and to identify works necessary to bring the structure back to use as a Rural Development Centre; Cavan County Council wishes to put together a design team for the project with the County Council leading the team and will provide the following: i. Project management ii. Contract administration iii. Supervision of the tender and construction stages of the project iv. Certification of the completed works v. Preparation of costed schedules and bill of quantities vi. Overall co-ordination of drawing schedules The client has prepared preliminary drawings of Dowra Courthouse which will be made available to the Design Team. A site location map has also been prepared. Cavan County Council wishes to procure the services of an Architect and Structural Engineer to form the Design Team: Architect: The Architect’s role will be to provide design services in connection with the refurbishment of the building. Given the historic nature of the premises, the Architect should be experienced in Conservation Work and have a suitable accredited qualification in Architectural Conservation to grade 3. Engineer: The Engineer’s role will be to provide an assessment of the existing fabric of the building and to provide guidance on the implications of the Architects proposals in terms of structural design. The Engineer will provide a variety of solutions for each engineering requirement and advice on the optimum course of action. The engineer will provide a design of the following: i) Courthouse roof including drawing and specifications as well as Structural Assessment of other roofs, walls and floors. ii) Design detail for lift shaft including foundations iii) The proposed balcony interlinking first floors of the building
