Animation for Bitz and Bob

Bitz and Bob (52 x 11 min) is a fully animated, landmark CBeebies/Fremantle Media Kids & Family co-production currently in pre-green-light, pre-production development with full editorial bible and approved, final character designs. In each comic, action-packed 11 minute episode, we join older sister, Bitz and younger brother, Bob as they travel in to a world of their creation for adventures with their toys. Bitz is an inventor and engineer, her toys are also tools and her materials are anything she can find around her. When things go wrong, she uses her ‘Engineer-o-vision’ to visualise and enact awesome, inventive solutions that empower her and her friends to save the day. Each 11 minute animation narrative episode has a companion 7 minute live action show with overlaid animated content where children make and test inventions and creations inspired by the episode adventures. The companion shows is hosted by Bitz and Bob - appearing overlaid on screen and through VO - who commentate on the kids’ antics, link the activities with clips from the animated show and explain the key points and engineering science in action. Both of these will be included in the contract with the successful bidder of this process. Each of the three strands of Bitz and Bob - narrative episodes, companion shows and interactive content - aim to gently introduce and explore the principles, science and practice of Engineering to young audiences, through children’s creative crafting and invention. We hope to inspire viewing children and help them to feel empowered to create, craft and make things themselves and to encourage an interest in engineering - especially for girls. Key recurring themes will explore creativity, team working, experimentation, problem-solving and invention.
