AFBI - Delivery of an Activity Based Cost Model. Background Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI) is a multi-disciplinary scientific organisation applying leading edge science and technology, working with global partners, to deliver a wide range of services to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development for Northern Ireland (DARD) and other public and private sector customers. AFBI is an executive Non-Departmental Public body sponsored by DARD. AFBI has developed a sophisticated and complex costing tool known as the Activity Based Cost Model (ABCM) in order to calculate the cost of each of its individual activities ranging from high volume testing to research and development. The need has therefore arisen for a competent Contractor to provide technical support to AFBI to fully embed and ensure the operational effectiveness of the Activity Based Cost Model methodology and model.
